Introducing New England Art News

New England has a rich art community. From the artist colonies of Provincetown, Massachusetts to Lyme, Connecticut, scores of artists have called this place home. It is a region dotted with some of the most significant art schools in the nation. Throughout its towns and cities there are numerous galleries, museums, and other venues to see and create art. I have been involved in the New England art scene for over a decade. First as the gallery manager of the historic Providence Art Club since 2014, and since 2021 as the weekly art writer for GoLocalProv. It is a special place and I am happy to be part of the unique community here.
In the fall of 2024 I started a Substack titled New England Art News to circulate news and information focused on artists across the region. Each week, I share a listing of jobs, calls, residencies, grants, and other opportunities for free. As we enter 2025, I thought have an accompanying website to host longer form pieces on exhibitions and artists throughout the region could be a valuable addition to the local arts media landscape. In this blog, you’ll find pieces that bring artists from outside Rhode Island into view and celebrate exhibitions and events happening in all of the states of our region.
Thank you to all the artists who have been so enthusiastic in supporting this endeavor so far. I look forward to sharing more stories from throughout New England.
